Maico Lapenna certainly knows his coffee - being judged top barista in Australia for 2004. Along with business partners, Paul and Vince Zappia, they had all grown up in the area and felt the city was reaching saturation point. Here was an opportunity to provide a service to a local community, and the locals have certainly repaid their faith, with the cafe busy since the day they opened. They offer a great modern Italian menu, featuring pasta dishes, salads and toscana-bread gourmet sandwiches, as well as an extensive breakfast menu.

I went there for the coffee and was not disappointed. Maico the barista is a man at the top his profession. You ask for any type of coffee if this guy doesn't get in your top 2 list (at least) you don't know coffee.. This is a coffee shop with in house chef... I've only tried a croissant (damn good one at that) so its a little unfair to rate it 4 as I haven't eaten a meal as such. Ambience is up market with a slice of neopolitan elegance...
